Friday Favorites: Beauty Essentials

I wanted to share with you guys some of my favorite beauty products that are constants in my daily routine. Some products I have been using for years, while others I have recently found that I will be using for years to come.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Almay CC Cream, Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer, Revlon Creme Shadow in “Precious Metals”

On a daily basis, I don’t wear much makeup at all. I put my moisturizer on, curl my lashes and sometimes add a touch of eyeliner and that’s it. However, when I do wear makeup, these are my go to products. I have been using this Revlon creme shadow for years. My grandmother actually started using it first and then when I was ready to start experimenting with makeup, I decided to give it a try. Needless to say, the rest is history. The shadow is cream based, which makes for smooth application. With any cream shadow comes the struggle with keeping it on for hours. However, I started using the shadow insurance before applying and it has worked wonders.

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes

These makeup wipes are a true wonder and necessity. Spending the time taking off my makeup, when I do wear, is not something that I want to be time consuming. This takes off my face makeup in a few clean swipes and is a life saver for those “had-one-too-many-drinks” nights.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer, Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery, Eucerin Intensive Repair Hand Lotion

Moisturizing is such an important part of my beauty routine. In the morning after I wash my face, I apply Aveeno moisturzier to my face and neck. I have been using this since high school and don’t plan on switching any time soon. I also am obsessed with Kiehl’s midnight recovery serum. It has added a ton of hydration to my skin, not only at night, but I also add a little bit after my regular moisturizer in the morning; and it smells fantastic. In the winter, my hands get extremely dry, like sahara desert dry. This Eucerin repair hand lotion has saved me from getting those painful, cracked hands and has added such moisture during the day and at night.

Jason Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil has been a recent finding of mine. I first found it at Trader Joe’s and have been using it ever since. If I get a blemish, I just take a bit on a cotton ball and press is against the spot on my face for a minute or so. It leaves a clean, tingly sensation and helps to dry out the pimple, so remember to moisturize after!

Essie “Clambake”

The perfect summer red, and the name is perfectly fitting. “Clambake” makes me reminisce of sitting on the beach with friends, drinking summer cocktails while the sun is setting in the background. Absolutely love this color and is a good transition red for fall.

Rainforest Radiance Detangling Spray, Brazil Nut Cream Body Scrub

These are both two new products I came across that I highly recommend. First, let’s talk about the body scrub. I don’t think I can put into words how amazing this stuff smells. I take one whiff of it and want to eat it – literally. I have no shame in saying this because it smells that good. The micro beads in it exfoliates the dead skin away and leaves your body feeling smooth and smelling fresh. The detangler spray is also from The Body Shop. This spray smells amazing as well – really, what doesn’t smell good from that store. I had been using kids detangler for the longest time and I thought I needed a change. My hair is so knotty when I get out of the shower so I knew this product was a keeper when my comb was sliding through the knots with ease.

Infinity Scarf

Winter has arrived! We had our first bit of snow fall yesterday, and even though the temperatures are continuing to drop, the first snow is always exciting. I bought this infinity scarf a little while back and have been pretty much wearing it everyday. It is super warm and extra cozy for the freezing days to come {not to mention red and leopard are a standout combination}. They also are on sale right now and come in a variety of colors. I may or may not have bought another one already.

Infinity scarf/ Essie “Limo Scene” and “Smokin’ Hot“/ Wide brim hat/ Pointed toe flats/ iPhone 5s/ Flannel button down

Grad school has been taking up majority of my time {hence the lack of posts}, however, I did manage to do some shopping these past couple of weeks. I desperately needed a new phone {despite my unwillingness to spend an absurd amount on money} so I got the new iPhone 5s. I still haven’t set it up or even upgraded to the new software in my old phone, so hopefully I will have the time to get that done at some point this week. It is FREEZING up here in Connecticut – we got our first little taste of the snowy season that is rapidly approaching yesterday. Waking up to chunks of snow falling and then actually sticking to the ground was a bit shocking to the system, but the day grew warmer and the little bit of snow was melted away. Layered on top of long sleeve tees, this¬†American Eagle flannel will help with those chilly days, along with my new infinity scarf that I can’t wait to arrive.

Leather jacket/ Metallic nail polish/ Everyday shopper/ Oversized sweater/ Neutral booties/ Graphic print dress

The leaves are beginning to change and fall is right around the corner. These are a few items on my fall wish list – everyone needs a transitional leather jacket that you can wear in fall and then build layers underneath for the winter months. Oversized sweaters are a necessity, both for lounging and fun fall activities {insert apple picking, pumpkin carving, etc}. I am also slightly obsessed with the everyday shopper I found {not to mention the price tag is unbeatable} from Zara. I love throwing everything into a big bag and not having to worry about what or what not can fit into it – my everyday essentials in my bag now are pretty extensive, including my Advil stash and abundant number of Burt’s Bees.
